Hero - The main character. Intentionally wanted her to look rather simple and plain. She was also a loose self-insert for myself, with my college hairstyle and glasses.
Conscience - The Hero's main supporter. A mysterious floating lady who tells the player to get back up and try again. 
Stress - The main antagonist. The concept of the game was fighting various "demons", or internal struggles, and the main antagonist being the thing that exasperates those various struggles.
The NPCs - Various characters who help the Hero accomplish her task. Every single NPC featured in the game was inspired by someone I knew, ranging from friends, to family, to my college mentors. 
The Bosses - Each stage would have a final boss that the Hero had to defeat in order to continue to the next stage. Each stage and boss were themed after a specific struggle.

I made a lot of pixel art, including the tiles that make up the levels of the game. Here's a small sample of what some of those looked like. 
And the mockup I did for the title screen. The blank space in the middle is where the buttons to start the game would have sat.
